Back to School Shopping: 21 Outfits for Under $100 at JCPenney!
– Hey everybody, I am Melea, from the Melea Show.
So, today we are going back to school clothes shopping.
I know all of us moms are looking for ways
to save money on all of the clothes for all of our children.
Today I have Rockwell with me, Rockwell are you there?
– Hi, you see him back there?
He is my little buddy today.
We are gonna go shopping for him.
And JCPenney has actually sponsored this video,
they gave me $100 and said, go in our stores,
we want you to buy at least 10 items,
we want you to come up with at least
five outfits, for under $100.
Do you guys think I can do it?
I’m pretty sure that I can, and in fact,
I actually think I can do better than that
because I have JCPenney coupons with me.
JCPenney has coupons on their website all of the time.
That you can either use online,
or printout and use in the store.
So, I’m pretty sure I’m gonna be able
to stretch that $100 even further.
So, let’s head in and go shopping.
And we’re gonna show you guys all of the things
that I buy for back to school clothing for Rockwell.
And right now, while you guys are watching the video,
comment below, tell me how many pieces of clothing
you think I’m gonna be able to buy for $100.
Let’s see who’s the closest.
(upbeat electronic music)
– Buying a lot of stuff, and shirts,
and pants, and flip flops.
– All right guys, we did it.
We went shopping, we have three bags full of clothing,
definitely more than 10 items for $100.
And that’s including tax.
So, we’re gonna go home, we’re gonna show ’em
all the cool stuff you got, right?
– And show you guys exactly how we saved,
some of the deals are crazy.
Show you the coupons that we used.
All that jazz, so you guys can do some
amazing back to school shopping for your kids
and save a ton of money.
Because Rockwell grows like a weed.
And, I don’t ever wanna spend a lot of money
when it comes to kids, (laughing)
when it come to my kids because they grow
outta stuff too fast and you don’t wanna
waste money on clothes they only wear a few times, right?
You don’t understand the weed comment?
– No, I’m not a weed.
– ‘Kay, let’s go home, and I’ll show
you guys everything that we got.
All right guys, we are back.
I literally have three bags full of clothing.
We scored out, like we made out like bandits.
I’m not even gonna lie.
And I’m really surprised because I haven’t
been to JCPenney for a long time
and they really exceeded my expectations so,
I’m excited to show you guys the deals that we got.
So, you guys can score amazing
back to school deals for your kids too.
All right, let start with the basic tees.
I love basic tees, I love v-necks.
I think it makes little boys look like little men,
I don’t know, I think they’re just so cute.
So, we picked out, well Rockwell picked out the colors
that he likes, so we have this coral color,
we have a green color, he said this one’s his favorite,
the green one, we have a blue one.
And all of these were $12 normal price, so they’re $12.
We also got a baby blue one, and then we also have,
they have striped colors as well.
This one was $17 normally.
They were on sale for 4.99 each.
You guys 4.99, so five bucks each, right?
But, then I was able to use a coupon,
so we’re gonna talk about the coupons.
If you go to JCPenney’s website, you will see coupons
at the very top on their website, you can click on it,
and it will show you all of the available coupons
that are available right then.
You guys can print off anything you want
and use it instore at JCPenney.
So, I was actually able to use a 10 off $25 coupon,
which ended up making these three bucks each.
You guys, three bucks per shirt!
Honestly, I could’ve purchased a ton more of shirts
and probably stretched my $100 budget way further.
But, I wanted to show you guys a variety of products
in case you didn’t wanna just get t-shirts,
and just tons of t-shirts,
maybe you wanted a few other things too.
Next up are shorts.
These were normally $22, and I like these
because I can do some colorblocking things with them.
Here’s another option.
I really like colorblocking, I think it’s
a really easy way to dress when there’s lots of solids.
It’s easy for the kids to get dressed too.
So, these shorts normally are $22,
they were on sale for 9.99, plus with our coupon
it dropped the price to 6.67, what?
Yeah, so, we have some shorts.
And they have these in lots of colors,
but again, I wanted to show you guys
a variety of different types of clothing and things.
So, or probably honestly, I probably would’ve
just gotten like a ton of different colors,
because I like colors.
These black cargo shorts, they’re normally $30,
they were on sale for 10 bucks, and then with our coupon
again, it made them only 6.67.
You guys, these prices are crazy, crazy.
Do you guys see the difference with the coupon.
You gotta use the coupons you guys.
And then, our last pair of shorts that we purchased,
you have to go with a khaki
because it goes with everything.
Normally $32, on sale for 9.99,
and again, with our coupon they ended up being 6.67.
Am I blowing your mind yet guys?
I hope so.
I’m so surprised.
I wasn’t expecting JCPenney’s prices to be this good.
When they challenged me to do the $100 challenge
for all of the back to school clothing outfits,
I went, okay, I’m pretty sure I can pull this off.
I’m good with money, I’m good with coupons, I can do this.
But then, once I got in there, I was like,
oh my goodness, the deals are amazing.
I’m gonna get way more than I thought I was.
So, we have three pairs of shorts,
we have five shirts so far, we’ve got a lot.
And, we’re not even close to being done.
So, I had to get a pair of jeans.
I like skinny jeans on my kids, or straight slims.
They have all their fits too, like for husky,
they have relaxed fit, they have, I mean,
they have every single type of fit you want there.
But, these jeans are normally $40, they were on sale
for 20, and the final price ended up being $16
and 82 cents, so that’s a huge drop
from what they typically are.
Also, in order to hit my $100, I had to go get
one more shirt, we got pink, Rockwell loves pink.
I think he looks so cute in pink,
especially with his little tan.
So, that’s another 4.99 shirt,
just like the ones I showed you a few minutes ago.
So, now we’ve got six shirts
in our collection for back to school.
Flip flops were on sale, so we were able to get these
for 2.99, normally eight bucks.
So, at this point we had about 40ish dollars left.
And I was like, okay we need like a real pair of shoes.
Flip flops are great, and he’ll be able to wear those,
but it’s gonna get cold, and wanna make sure
we have like good quality shoes.
Shoes that he’s gonna be excited to wear,
that he can, that he’ll just love, right?
So, JCPenney’s sells a lot of brands
like Converse, Vans, Nike, we love Nike in our family.
So, I got Rockwell some Nike’s.
Now this takes up a big amount of our budget from that $100.
These were normally $50 and we got them on sale for 43.
Nike is hard to find on sale,
typically you can’t use a coupon on them.
But, on my receipt it actually let me use the coupon.
So, it took off six dollars, that was cool.
So, these shoes actually ended up being $36,
instead of 50, which is amazing.
So, let me show you guys what they look like.
I mean, they’re adorable, right?
So, so, so, so, so cute.
Could we have spent more money on clothes?
For sure, like and if you didn’t need shoes,
like a good pair of shoes for the year,
for the school year, you could’ve purchased
double the amount of clothes that we grabbed.
So, all in all, I think I have 12 items.
And, this is the most expensive item by far,
just because Nike’s such a high end brand.
But, we really wanted something that would last.
But, with all of the crazy deals that we got
on everything else, I mean, literally,
you guys probably could’ve doubled
what we purchased, without the shoes.
You guys could’ve gotten 22 items, instead of 11.
And, like really, really stocked up your closet.
And just so you guys know, we hit $100.
I wanna say it was like $101.
And that included all of our tax too.
So, if you guys have a similar budget,
or maybe if your budget is a little bit less, that’s okay.
Seeing the deals that we got today,
should totally help you guys know exactly what to get.
I would definitely recommend going to JCPenney
after all the cute boy stuff that I saw.
Oh, and before I forget, so some of you guys
might have kids who go to a charter school,
who go to a private school, my kids go
to a charter school, so they wear uniforms.
So, you guys are probably like, why did you do
this back to school haul if your kids have uniforms?
Well, my kids wear regular clothes the rest of the time.
So, they still need back to school clothes.
And, I definitely wanna score
all the back to school clothing deals.
And they need uniform deals.
So, I actually saw a ton of uniforms at JCPenney.
Lot’s of different styles, skirts, skorts, jumpers,
pants, shorts, all of the polos in every color.
So, if you do have kids that need uniforms
for back to school, still go to JCPenney,
still use the coupons, and get like
a better deal than anywhere else.
All right, now it’s time to get technical.
So, I know I was supposed to come up with
five looks for back to school.
But, because I went with clothing that can be intermatched,
I know we have way more than five outfits.
So, khakis go with all of these shirts.
So, we have one outfit, two outfits, three outfits,
four outfits, five outfits, six outfits.
Now, these cute shorts won’t go with all my shirts.
So, we have, this one works, seven,
this one works, eight, this one works, nine,
and this one works, 10.
The jeans go with all of the shirts.
So, we have 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16.
And, you can wear all of these with black shorts too.
So, we have 17, 18, 19, 20, 21.
This one doesn’t really go with black,
so we’ll keep that one out.
So, 21 and of course, he could wear the flip flops,
or he could wear the Nike’s.
So, 21 outfits you guys, 100 bucks.
With shoes, legit shoes from Nike.
I think I did really good, what do you guys think?
Would you guys have shopped similarly,
would you have done it different?
Let me know what you guys think.
I don’t know how many of you guys
shop at JCPenney on a regular basis.
Maybe I’m the only one who has been dropping the ball,
and hasn’t been shopping there regularly.
So, gonna change my ways ’cause they had
super cute girls stuff too.
So, I’ll have to go back for Devin
and see what I can find for her.
Thank you so much for watching.
I hope you guys can use these deals,
and tips, and maybe even copy my shopping trip
I just did at JCPenney to save your kids
some money on back to school clothing.
